On-Premise Calibration Data: Operating in Your Infrastructure
Keeping on-premise calibration data means keeping control of your most valuable development know-how. VersaCal is built for exactly that: the platform runs in your data centre or in your own cloud tenant. It needs no connection to the outside world.
Why Calibration Data Should Stay On-Premise
A calibration dataset is not an ordinary document. It holds years of calibration experience, condensed into numbers. Whoever reads it understands your design choices, your limits and your compromises.
Therefore the location of storage weighs more heavily here than with other engineering software. Moreover, OEM contracts frequently rule out passing data to third parties. So a vendor cloud is often out of the question from the start.
Two Operating Models for On-Premise Calibration Data
VersaCal has no tenant at the vendor. Instead, you choose where the platform runs. Both routes deliver the same feature set.
- Classic on-premise – entirely in your data centre, with no outbound connection
- Your private cloud – operated in your own tenant, for example in Azure, under your policies
- In both cases: your backups, your network segments, your access control

Connecting to Your Corporate Identity
Local accounts per tool are a risk, because they often survive an employee's departure. VersaCal therefore authenticates users through your identity provider. Microsoft Entra ID, SAML 2.0 and OpenID Connect are available for that.
In addition, SCIM creates and revokes accounts and roles automatically from your directory. Permissions stay separated fine-grained into viewer, calibrator and approver. Consequently an account ends exactly when your IT ends it.
What GDPR-Compliant Operation Means Here
The phrase gets stretched, so to be precise: it refers to the operating model. Storage and processing happen in your infrastructure, there is no telemetry and nothing flows to third parties. Thus you remain the controller, and without us acting as a processor.
An external certification is explicitly not what is meant. VersaCal carries no ISO 27001 seal and does not claim one. Instead, the platform provides the technical properties your existing data protection concept can build on.
AI Features Without Data Leaving
AI assistance and data protection often look like a contradiction. Here they are not, because the endpoint stays your choice. You point the AI features at an in-house or European endpoint.
Furthermore, the AI can be switched off entirely. Versioning, review, plausibility checks and release then carry on unchanged. So your security concept decides the feature set, not the vendor.
Traceability as Part of Security
Security does not end at the login. Likewise it matters what happens afterwards, and whether it stays provable later. Every change, comment and approval therefore lands in the audit trail.
Moreover, the four-eyes gate forces a second role before the commit. A release certificate then exists. As a result, a state can be evidenced to an auditor years afterwards.

Frequently asked questions about on-premise calibration data
Does VersaCal need an internet connection?
No. In classic on-premise operation the platform works entirely inside your network, with no outbound connection. There is no licence call-home and no telemetry. Only if you point AI features at an external endpoint does a request leave your network — and you choose that endpoint.
Is VersaCal ISO 27001 certified?
No, and we do not claim it. The phrase “GDPR-compliant operation” refers to the operating model: your data is stored and processed in your infrastructure. A certificate for the platform would not replace your own data protection and security concept anyway.
Who has access to our calibration data?
Only the roles you define in your identity provider. As the vendor we have no access to a running installation, because there is no tenant at our end. For support cases you decide case by case what you share.
